At the International Master of Aging Skin Management (IMCAS) in Paris, a new hyaluronic acid product with zero cross-linking agent was launched globally – PROFHILO, a new type of stable hyaluronic acid (HA) that can reshape sagging skin.
Profhilo is manufactured by IBSA Farmaceutici Italia, an Italian pharmaceutical manufacturer, and is approved by the US FDA. It is a stable hybrid hyaluronic acid complex formed by a patented thermal process combined with NAHYCO™ hybrid technology. Thanks to this innovative technology, it is possible to combine 32mg of low molecular weight HA (L-HA: 80-100K Da) and 32mg of high molecular weight HA (H-HA: 1100-1400K Da) while maintaining complete manageability. The total concentration reaches 64mg, a high concentration and purity that has never been achieved before. And this process does not involve the use of chemical cross-linking agents such as BDDE (1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether), and the final product – PROFHILO is pure hyaluronic acid ultrapure grade hyaluronic acid.
Profhilo is cross-linked by heat and does not contain the cross-linking agent BDDE. It can reshape and tighten facial skin and moisturize facial cells, rather than just filling fine lines and wrinkles. According to IBSA, because Profhilo is produced by fermentation, no cross-linking agents are added during the production process, and the hyaluronic acid content is 100%, it has good biocompatibility and low risk of side effects. In terms of purity, safety and high resistance to thermal production processes, it is listed as “top quality” worldwide.
A study on Dermal Components Remodeling showed that:
- Increase of elastin in fibroblasts (HD F cells)-PROFHILO Compared with native H-HA and L-HA, the activation of elastin expression was much higher;
- Fibroblasts (HD F cells) – Increased COLI & COLIII synthesis in PROFHILO® has a higher activation rate compared to COLI & COLIII synthesis of natural H-HA and L-HA;
c. Keratinocytes (HaCaT cells) – the addition of COLIV and COLVII in PROFHILO® has a higher activation effect than natural H-HA and L-HA;
